Christopher Norton

Draughtsman and lithographer who was involved in graphic printmaking. A student of Pierre Charles Canot. For most of his life, he lived and worked in Rome, where his friend James Byres was also active as an art dealer, outside of his work as a banker and architect. Byres was the driving force behind the publication of Antiquities of Corneto, featuring his own texts illustrated with Norton’s etchings according to the sketches of Franciszek Smuglewicz, which was ultimately never brought to fruition.
